From Sandy Davis, RD: I would not recommend Gigi’s for gluten free cupcakes. They are prepared in the same kitchen and there are not controls in place to prevent cross-contamination. The following is from the Gigi website:
Gigi Cupcake Allergy Information
“Despite the fact that we bake and offer cupcakes without gluten and/or nuts, all of our cupcakes are prepared fresh in the same kitchen, allowing for the potential of cross-contamination. Our baking equipment comes in contact with peanuts, other nuts, nut oils and extracts, as well as products containing gluten. Therefore, our cupcakes cannot be certified as a nut-free or gluten-free product.”

I noticed that Campbell’s Bakery is offering several gluten free items. Does any one know what steps they take to assure there is no cross contamination? Sounds awfully risky tro me!
